Question:
Does anyone know why I take one drink and I hickup up to 45min?

If I have a sip of water I can go up to 45min hiccuping. Iam also feeling full in my tummy, I even feel pressure on my chest. When I don't have hickups I burp. I just vomited some weird foam like stuff. Can someone please help me with my questions?    — Irma C. (posted on August 16, 2001)

Irma, The "foamies" come when your pouch is too full. For me, hiccups signal the same thing.. if I start to hiccup and put ANYTHING else in my mouth I will throw up. Burping can do some nice "adjusting" of the food / liquid in the pouch and make things settle down. Burping is a good thing, as Martha Stewart might say if she had WLS. You are such a newbie post op (I checked your profile and deduced that you are 7 days post op, yes?) that even liquids at this stage can take a while to exit your pouch. Your pouch is probably still swollen and not too happy with what has been done to rearrange your innards. This should pass shortly; if not, then you need to talk to your doctor as soon as possible. The number one priority for a new post op is to stay hydrated! If you can't get enough liquid in, you will find yourself back in the hospital hooked up to the IV. Take care!
