Hi Lisa,
I have United Health Care, BMI 40. I was approved within a month. I
personally know 3 other people who have had WLS who all have United Health
Care Insurance. They were all approved and two have had the surgery and one
is scheduled. My surgery is scheduled for Sept. 4. I really don't think
you'll have any problems. I've heard nothing but good things about United
Health in regards to approving this surgery.
Best wishes!

Hi, I also have UHC insurance. I had a problem with them approving the lap
rny in Illinois. There view is that it is still a expiremental procedure(no
procedure code yet). I put up a fight with them for a little while trying
to get more information. But now that I have agreed to have the rny open my
approval only took 11 days. If at all possible get the name and fax number
to your pre-certification rep. that handles your alphabet(your last name).
If your doctor also faxes the surgery request right to them it makes the
process go smoother. My surgery date is September 26. You should have no
trouble at all. Good luck and God Bless!

Hi. I have UHC PPO. My experience with them was a little frustrating, you
need to call and call and call! Make sure they are doing what needs to be
done. They had my paperwork for about 3 weeks before I found out that it
wasnt even where it was supposed to be. Once it got there however, I was
approved in less than 24hrs!! So over all it hasnt been too bad. Good
luck to you!
