Question:
Absorbtion of Antidepressants
I have been looking into all of the different surgery procedures, I was wondering about the DS, they talk alot about malabsorbtion with the DS surgery, I was wondering about how this works if your on antidepressants, if your body absorbs your pills? — [Anonymous] (posted on July 2, 2001)

I had the DS surgery 6 weeks ago today and I am also on meds for
depression. I take serzone and I have no problems what so ever. I am also
on alot of other meds and they work like they are suppose to. they had me
take my meds in pill right away in the hospital.

I take 2 Effexors 150mg. and 1 celexa 40mg. every day for chronic
depression. I have never had any problems with absorption. If I had of I
probably would not be here today. My hubby would of had me locked up a
long time ago. LOL--but seriously I had done very well with my depression
since having had the WLS surgery. Take care and God Bless You.

The only difference for me has been that post-op I can't take anything that
comes in sustained or extended release form.
