Question:
What is the weight losses for those of you who have had revisions?
On another chat forum it was reported that Dr. Hess in Ohio said that he is only seeing 20lbs weight loss in revised patients. I would like to hear from all who have had a revision and what type. Terry A. — Terry A. (posted on June 13, 2001)

I think that was totally srong information, I had a revision from a VBG to
RNY on May 1st and I have lost 30lbs in 6 weeks. My surgeon thinks I will
lose at least 80 lbs, but probably more. My starting weight was 252.

I had vgb in 1988, and had been down 100lbs for a pretty long time. then
suture line leak and 2 pregnancies later, i was up 224 again. after last
preg. i was revised (9/00) i lost about 20 and now i am eating almost like
i was before revision. i had a scope done and it showed everything was
intact and working as planned, however i have a very large pouch. so i
suppose that alot has to do with who does the surgery, and what revision
you have. if i could or am able to have it revised to rny, i think i
would. i am not sure though that it would be tempting fate at this point.
Good Luck....ps i would not go to all the trouble again and have another
vgb that is for sure!!!!

I've actually had two revisions, the first one I lost 130lbs, this was
just a restapling. 5/14/01 I had a revision to a rny and have lost over
40lbs in just under 5 weeks. Go for it, it can be done. Good luck

I had a revision from a stapling to a gastric bypass. I lost from 433 to
270's with the stapling. I gained from 270's to 343 and had a gastric
bypass, I lost 40lbs in about 3 months and quickly agined it back. I am
awaiting an appointment now to see if further surgery will help. I am now
350. i think the Gastric bypass was a waste of time and money in my case.
