Question:
Can anyone refer me to a physician in the chicago area who give a referal
my primary physician lied to me...she told me she was open to discussing the wls surgery but when i saw her all she did was tell me that i was taking the easy way out and telling me of 2 horror stories of 2 women who had the surgery 5 or 10 years ago...she was not willing to discuss any of the current techinques or procedures used by the doctors today....she also told me that my insurance wouldn't even cover it since i don't have any pre-existing conditions that go with being morbidly obese im over 300pds i.e. diabetes,hypertension,etc...not true i made clear to her that it was covered....she still refused to provide me with any referal. my question to anyone who reads this in the chicago area do you know of any primary physicians who have previously given referals for this surgery that i can switch too? im scheduled to see dr. john alverdy at the university of chicago. or do u know of any doctor's at the university of chicago who has given referals for this surgery? i would really appreciate the info so that i can switch primarys.....my primary's ignorance will not stop me from obtaining a sugury that i know will save my life ..thank u — DEIRDRE D. My PCP was Dr. Elizabeth Wallner from Northwestern. She'll refer you to
any doctor within the network. I hand picked my surgeon and told her that
was who I wanted to use (Dr. Alverdy was on my list until I did further
research). She wrote the referral for the surgeon I chose, who happened to
be in my network. I'd make sure that she's covered in your insurance
network. Good Luck to you.
