Question:
I am stuck - I can't drop the last 30 pounds!
I have lost 80 pounds at the one year post-op mark, now at 164#. I would like to lose another 30 pounds, but have been stuck at 164 for two months and showing no signs of budging. I feel like this is different from a plateau. It is that last little bit (if 30 #'s can be considered "little bit" ha!) that just isn't going anywhere. HELP! I don't want to stop here at 164. — Lori B. (posted on April 17, 2001)

Lori,
I too have about 30 more pounds to lose. I'm almost 11 months post op. My
personal belief is that when we get to that last 30 pounds we are very much
like "everyone else" in the world who could stand to lose 20 or
30 pounds! I think that exercise is the only thing for me that will get me
to my goal weight. The "reason" your weight loss has slowed down
is that you are probably pretty close to having a caloric intake that will
sustain your body AT your goal weight. For instance, if your calorie
intake is around 100 calories less than it would take to maintain a weight
of 135 pounds it would take you approximately 35 days to lose only one
pound. The trend will still be downward, but it will be very slow. Hang
in there! All good things come to those that wait... ummmm.. and those
that EXERCISE!!
