Question:
Are there any vitamins we can swallow?
I am having trouble getting the chewables down I have tried all the brands on the market, and they make me gag. The calcium and iron are no problem. — connie m (posted on March 17, 2001)

Hi Connie,
Providing they are not gel-caps, you should be able
to cut almost any size pill/vitamin into several smaller
pieces. If you already have a bottle of chewables...
cut them into small pieces and swallow instead of
chewing. By doing this, you won't have to spend additional
money right away. It might help to get a pill-cutter.
Any pharmacy should carry this item. Good Luck & Hugs.

I swallow all pills. Multi, dry E, calcium citrate and all the tiny ones.
I don't do the chewables, either. Yuck. Never have. You didn't say if you
are VBG, though, as I know they have a smaller outlet. Every pill I take
except the multi can be opened & dumped, if you prefer.

My surgeon restarted all my prior medications (in tablet form) on my 3rd
post-op day following a lap RNY, and I had no problems. I was instructed
to take chewable vitamins for the first 3 weeks, then to change to a
multivitamin with iron of my choice. I have been taking Centrum vitamins
since that time. Good luck!
