Question:
Is it possile after surgery to gain your weight back?
Today my friend said she watched Oprah and they discussed gastric bypass, the Dr. said it was temporary and that you could gain the weight back, how is that true? — Jackie R. (posted on January 31, 2001)

If you sabatoge yourself, then YES, you can gain weight. If you stick to
the program, eat good foods, exercise, you can maintain weightloss. It is
commonly called a tool for weightloss, and used incorrectly, the tool will
not work!

Hi there
My sister had the gastric bypass two years ago. she was a siz 32 and droped
down to a size 18. She is now a size 22. She has gained weight now and has
considered a tummy tuck. I think that if after you lose the weight, if you
eat food high in fat then the possibility to gain it back is there, also if
you do nothing to keep it off such as walking. Those are my thoughts Bye
bye:0)

YES If you do not change your eating habits you can gain back all your
weight and then some. Your system seems to accept more foods as you go.
Then as your stomach emptys you eat. So if you don't deal with why your
eating (emotions, or habits) You can gain. This is just a tool to help.
But......most don't cause as you begin to lose your more active and feel
better so you keep going pluse I find I don't like the same foods as
before. I loved Diet Coke and after I broke the habit of drinking it I
didn't want to go back again. etc. Down 120 lbs. in 8months!

My surgeon say's yes you can. But it also varys with the different types of
surgery. They RNY has the best long term weight loss. Exercise and eating
healthy is your only real chance at keeping it off.
