Question:
Any post op persons who are vegetarian and are not having food choice problems
I am concerned about geeting enough protein since some beans and peas are not recommended after surgery. Any ideas for me to ensure I get enough protein. Thanks! — Anne W. (posted on January 24, 2001)

I am not completely vegetarian, but
I lean that way. I do not rely on any food products for protein, however.
I'd prefer beans & rice, but they don't set well with me and they are
SO low on the BV list that I can eat a few tsps for fun, but not enough to
get any food value. I stick with whey proteins, myself. They are
pre-digested, so the missing stomach doesn't take as much away from them as
from foods. It's just easier all around. I eat food, but I don't rely on it
to meet any of my nutritional needs.
