Question:
Is a green bowel movement something I should be concerned with?
I am 9mos. post op from the DGB w/DS. Yesterday I had a bowel movement which was totally green, moss green. I thought of what I ate the day before, certainly nothing green. Also, since last night I've had a "gassy" type stomach ache which I've never had since surgery. This has never happened to me before, has anyone heard of or experienced this? Should I be concerned? — Christina D. (posted on November 23, 2000)

Not if you're the Grinch! But seriously, no, it is nothing to worry about.
You probably ate something that triggered an expulsion of bile (which is
yellow or green). I also get the green poopies when I drink red or purple
grape juice (go figure!) If it doesn't clear up, or if you start to
experience pain, be sure to see your doctor. Anyone with a "intestinal
stump" needs to be careful not to get a blockage on the part that
connects to the liver/pancreas. Not a complication that happens often, but
just something to be aware of...good luck!

I have not had surgery yet, but to be on the safe side, I would call your
Dr. and find out. Good luck.

Dumb question but did you have any sugar free koolades??
Grape koolade makes me have funky green stools.

I have them every once in a while after veggies or something like that. No
I do not think its anything to worry about as long as there is no blood or
anything like that attached. Peace

Thanks to all who posted answers to this question. Just so you all know I
did call my doctor on this one. He said, green is fine, it's white or
clear we should be concerned with.
