Question:
Is there a new federal guideline for Bariatric Surgery?

I was informed by my insurance carrier (PHP of Northeastern Indiana) that they are following the "new" Federal Guideline (as of 7-1-00) requiring an 18 month Medically-Supervised diet. I wonder if this is a specific rule? I haven't seen it in anyone's posting? My longest med-supervision was Optifast lasting 12 months. Thank you all!    — Kelly D. (posted on October 27, 2000)
