Question:
How do post-ops handle the thirsty feeling?
I especially get thirsty and like to "chug" water while exercising, but there are other times in my life when I get really thirsty and want to drink a lot of liquid at once. Do post-ops still get this urge, and if so, how do post-ops handle it? — Jennifer S. (posted on September 26, 2000)

I apologize for crowding the database with two of the same question, but
AOL kicked me off as I was attempting to post my question and I didn't
think it had gone through.

I ate alot of ice especelly when it was hot! I would stop anywhere and just
get a cup of ice! Before and after meals, after I walk! I also ate a sugar
free popcile after a meal and that would help alot too! Help your thirst
and cool your body down after a walk!

Jennifer: I have been able to drink almost 'normally' since a month postop
open RNY. I can easily drink 16 ounces in 20 or 30 minutes - maybe less.
You will probably be fine. However, there are a few who cannot do this.
