Question:
Does dumping get worse or better with time???
I am 6wks out and I don't really dump, although latley I have been showing signs of dumping with certain foods. If something doesn't make me sick now, can it three months down the road or does dumping get better with time??? — Alison B. (posted on September 22, 2000)

Dumping gets better with time because you learn to recognize foods that can
be problems, and you also recognize what quatities you can eat of them.
Also, as time goes by, your tolerance to certain foods might get better.
Introduce new foods to your diet very slowly and in minute quantities.

You can reset your sugar tolerance until you gain ALL yoru weight back if
you are determined to do so. At 6 yrs, I can tolerate more than I could
orginally, but when I find that I am too lured by sugar, I can reset the
dump-o-meter back down to keep me from regain. I have to go back to cold
turkey on sugar, stop all the little 2g & 4g "cheats" and in
a matter on days, I'm dumping on relatively nothing again. Miserable, but
it keeps my weight pretty steady.

I know that I did not really have a dumping problem until 4 weeks post-op.
Then It kicked in. Fat and sugar both cause me to dump. For me I get a
little sweaty and then have the runs. If I have something on my stomach
prior to the sugar then the episode is not as intense. I try to stay far
away from it now though. Its very uncomfortable. Peace Trina
