Question:
Has anyone experienced pain after eating and drinking?

Help! I'm 3 weeks and 5 days post-op open RNY. I was progressing well until I switched to pureed foods at 3 weeks post-op. Now, every time I eat and drink, I experience shooting pains in my abdomen that come and go all day long. I am also beginning to feel nauseous at times. I now even have difficulty drinking water! I am eating much less than during previous stages of the diet (now only about 1/4 of a cup per meal and less for snacks) and it takes me 30 minutes - an hour to eat, depending on the quantity and consistency of food. I have also been following recipes given to me by the hospital, so I don't think this is caused by fat and/or sugar. I did contact the hospital today and was told that I need to speak to the dietician (of course, she was not in today) and that she would call me tomorrow. Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions, recommendations, etc. would be greatly appreciated. I'm getting to the point of being frustrated, worried, and regretful of having the surgery.    — Adria M. I know exactly what you mean - I have had the same problem and it came from drinking too fast or eating or drinking things that were too warm or too cold - but tell your surgeon - it could be something more serious

Hang in there. It's a sign that you have gone to pureed or solids too fast. Introduce new foods into your diet very slowly. Good luck!
