Question:
Do you know the nutritional values of these post op foods?
I thought you might like to know the nutritional value of the following foods. Please don't ask for the address of the website where this info was found! I forgot to write it down. ------------------------------------------------------------ TUNA 43 GRAMS PROTEIN 1 - 6 OZ CAN (WATER PACKED DRAINED) PEANUTS ALL KINDS 37.6 GRAMS PROTEIN 1 CUP - FAT - 71.8 EGG - LARGE 6.24 GRAMS PROTEIN FAT 5.01 3 OZ ROAST BEEF LEAN 24.64 GRAMS PROTEIN 4.16 FAT SKINLESS CHICKEN BREAST ROASTED 1/2 26.67 GRAMS PROTEIN 3.07 FAT 1 CUP SKIM MILK 8.35 GRAMS PROTEIN 301 MCG CALCIUM 1 CUP SHREDDED COLBY CHEESE 26.84 GRAMS PROTEIN 36.28 FAT 4 OZ LOW FAT COTTAGE CHEESE 14 GRAMS PROTEIN 1.65 FAT ------------------------------------------------------------------- I hope that this helps you to find the protein content in some of the items that you may be considering post op. Please remember that just because I have listed these items does not mean that your particular surgeon may want you to eat them just after surgery. Please check w/ your surgeon or dietician before deciding to try a food that you are not sure of.** (I am trying to learn as much as I can about the nutritional values of foods being used post op. As I learn, I will pass it on to others at AMOS). — kathy S. (posted on August 7, 2000)

Hi Kathy,
I am so thankful for your help, I am still learning also,
I am 2 years since surgery, and down 230lbs. and holding at
156lbs. But, always open to new information especially on the
protien contents, because I still tend to run low in protien.
My surgon said I may always, but, it sure helps to
learn all I can about this new body, and how to take good care of
it. Thanks again, Linda

I found a book that gives the nutritional information on lots of foods,
including some restaurants & fas food places-- It's called "The
complete book of food counts" by Corinne T Netzer. It gives calories,
protein levels, carbs, sodium, cholesterol, fat, & fiber.
Unfortunately, tho, it doesn't give sugar amounts. I found it at Hastings
in Idaho, but it looks like it might be widely available. The one I have is
the fifth edition.
