Question:
Working out on the weight machines
I'm 10 weeks post-op (Open RNY) - is it too soon to start working out on the different weight machines? I belong to the Y and have been doing water aerobics and started on the treadmill and now I want to start on the weight machines to work specific areas like upper arms and inner thighs to start to tone and firm. Does anybody have any information on when it's okay to start on the weight machines? I have an appt with the Y tonight and they are certified and hope they are somewhat knowledgeable about gastric bypass surgery. Also, I've been told that I might gain a couple pounds from muscle and not to freak out because muscle is good - anyone out there experience this? Thanks for all your help! — Conny M. I am guessing that you feel the need to tone and build muscle all over your
bod. So if your tummy or other area is still tender, modern equipment
isolates muscle groups so well the Y folks should be able to guide you to
machines for other areas. For instance arms, etc. You can catch up on the
other areas when it is more comfortable.
