Question:
does the hair grow back?

I have read a lot about folks losing hair after WLS. This worries me as I have fine hair to begin with. Does the hair eventually grow back?    — [Anonymous] (posted on July 19, 2000)

I saw my surgeon today. I am 7 months post op and have lost about 1/2 of my hair (I had a lot to begin with). He told me that in almost 1000 surgeries he has never seen the hairloss be permanent. In fact, my loss has slowed significantly in the last month.

Yes, It does eventually grow back, but when you comb your hair and see strands coming out everytime, it really depresses you. Even though my surgeon warned me, I still was not prepared for the traumatic experience. Good luck.

Hi there, I have lost alot of hair at various times, because my zinc levels are down, but, my hair has always come back and even thicker. I am now 2 years after surgery, and it happens to me every 6 months or so. Linda

I had surgery in April. Last month I just started losing my hair. I have been losing alot each day. My doctor said that eventually it will grow back. He said if you are going to lose your hair, there is nothing that will stop it. I just hope I have enough to last! :)
