Question:
What is it and When will it Pass?!
I am 6 weeks post-op. I lost 40 lbs at 4 weeks post-op and hit a plateau for 2 weeks. I haven't weighed since the 9th, but I think I have lost a little more. That was discouraging, but I have another problem I am having difficulty dealing with. Sometimes, immediately after eating, my pouch produces saliva or mucous that refluxes into my mouth - like reverse watering of the mouth. It is very uncomfortable, and usually leads to vomiting. First of the mucous, then of whatever I've eaten. It has happened with foods I have tolerated previously. I chew VERY slowly and consistently. Anyone with any answers would be greatly appreciated! — [Deactivated Member] (posted on June 14, 2000)

Denise, I've had the same exact thing and I am 7 weeks out. What usually
happens to me is that I've had that one extra bite too much, then my mouth
starts that watering and I usually do end up vomiting up the mucous, then
that one last bite too much, and then I'm fine. What I've started doing is
learning to judge better when I'm full, stop BEFORE I have that full
feeling and I've noticed a great improvement. I was vomiting 2-3 times a
week up until last week when I finally worked out this new method and I
have not vomited once since. Hope this helps ... and good luck! Congrats
on the 40 pounds!

Denise... it sounds like you took one bite too many. I have done this a
couple of times. Congrats on your WL!

It sounds like to me you are eating too much. My surgeon told me when I
have eaten too much my body will let me know. I have gone through the exact
same thing. Before you actually throw up that mucous is in your mouth then
you ultimately end up throwing up. Your pouch is getting too full and the
food has no where to go so it is coming back up
