Question:
Harmful before surgery?

Ok, this is a gross topic, but I couldn't find it else where. I read about a woman dying a week after surgery because the doctors lanced a huge abcess on her side, and leg, and it got into her blood stream.Is an abcess the same thing as a boil? I used to get boils occasionally as a kid; 3 years ago I had a c-section and immediately started getting them again on my breast, arm pits, and lower abdomen. I still get them. Is this dangerous a month and a half before surgery? Should I let my doctor know? Will they cancel it out, or put me on antibiotics?
