Question:
How long before you can eat regular food?
How long after surgery were you able to eat regular (non-pureed/non-soft) foods? How long for breads? My surgeon doesn't transition to solid food until 8 weeks post-op and I was wondering if this is the average. Thanks for the info. — prissb (posted on March 2, 2000)

My surgeon instructed me to start solid foods at 5 weeks post-op including
breads. I personally feel better when I eat meat or vegetables as opposed
to pizza dough or pasta but you'll have to experiment with a variety of
foods to know.

Yup, 8 weeks was about when I went to 'regular' foods. Breads took a lot
longer, they were difficult to digest. Even toast was rough! Saltine
crackers were ok, though. Take your time. I know it's hard, but you
really need to let your body heal. It's for the best! Good luck. Jaye

Hi there! I had to wait until I was six weeks post op to eat regular
foods. I hope this helps.
