Question:
Can someone describe exactly what the full feeling is like?

I'm 10 days post op and not sure this is working. Will I not get the full feeling on the liquids only phase or what's the deal? I haven't felt hungry but I haven't felt "full" either. Also was wondering if any other post ops could instantly breathe better. It's the strangest thing, I can take deaper breaths then I ever have before.Any info would be appreciated.    — Sue K. I did not get the full feeling until I started solid foods. The feeling for me is similar to accidently swallowing a piece of ice or hard candy. It is not pressure but pain in my chest :) I get a one bite warning and if I take another bite after the warning, everything will come up. I don't know if this is what others feel but it is definately how it works for me. It is taking some adjustment but I am learning step by step. At six weeks post I know I still have a lot of adjusting to do. By the way, I had open RNY.

Dear Sue, After spending a "Nite from Hell", in a sleep lab in Spokane, and not being able to sleep a wink after 2:3O am. when they came in with the CPAP mask and I had a gigantic panic attack, I know I'm a little rummy right now, but your question really hit my funny bone. Im really not laughing at you it just struck me funny because I thought if any of us knew what it was like to feel full we wouldn't be visiting this site. Really I know what you meant and I wish you the best. Sorry to laugh but I really needed that! Love and Prayers. Jeanie

Hi Sue: I know what you mean about the breathing thing. I experienced that! I went from 2 years of sleep apnea and being exhausted to no apnea at all at 2 weeks post-op. It was the greatest feeling to wake up refreshed in the morning, and be able to take in a deep breath. As for the full feeling, that will come in time. You'll know it when you have it. I expected to have it right away too, but it took a little while to come. Good luck! Jaye Carl, open proximal RNY 7-29-99, 94 pounds gone forever!
