Question:
Has anyones Dr.told them they need to gain more muscle before surgery?
Dr. told me I don't have very much muscle and gaining muscle before surgery is required. "HELLO"! he told me to walk 2 miles a day, and if I understood correctly I need to do this twice a day. I am on nonflamatory meds now and it does help. however, I have to wonder if all that walking would make my knees worse. — Anna G. (posted on January 25, 2000)

To be honest I think you are right, to a point! I would go to the local Y
and let someone show you the ropes on the weight machines. I would always
rather do 1/2 on the machines and then do some walking on a treadmill. The
treadmill will be more forgiving to your knees and you do not have to be
out in the elements. I am 33 and female and STILL love to lift weights!!! I
always feel as if I have the control to work the areas I need, I have a
strong lower body that builds fast and so I know I need to work on the
upper body! Also, I have had to have back surgery so I know that I should
works on the backs of my legs to help with my backs support! OOH I just
love to lift, and believe it or not it makes me feel MORE feminine :) LOL
