Question:
Waiting and waiting... finally approved... now SCARED!

My name is Mary. I have a BMI of 42.6. I have 120 lbs to lose. My surgery date is Dec14 with preop testing on Dec8. I am have become very nervous and anxious about this! Does this seem to normal to all of you?? I really need some reassurance!!!    — Mary B. (posted on December 1, 1999)

Mary, I understand completely what you are going through. My paperwork was faxed to the insurance company on 11/17 and my surgery was scheduled for 12/3. I finally got approved on 11/30. Unfortunately my surgery was postponed until 12/7. Doesn't sound like much but my nerves are about shot already. Except for the anxiety from waiting for approval, I pretty much was completely psyched. Now I am a nervous wreck. Not that I'm doubting my decision, it's just that now it's truly a reality and it IS going to happen. Don't worry, you are not alone. I hope I was of some help. Tamara

Very normal. When You get approval it all seems so final. You start thinking about what you are doing to yourself it becomes time for a panick attack. Amazingly the night before my surgery I became totally calm and secure in my decision. After the surgery you again get "what did I do?" thoughts on occasion, but I would do it over in a heartbeat. ~:o)
