Question:
Looking for a weight loss surgery friendly PCP in MD
Hi! I am looking for a weight loss surgery friendly primary care physician in Maryland or the metro region. My current pcp doesn't believe in the surgery even after I gave him numerous information. Thank you! — June :. (posted on November 13, 1999)

I have the same problem. It is very infuriating. My Doctor
in Dallas, said she could no longer be my physician due to
my decision to have this surgery. Dr's, they defy logic. Sorry I don't
know any in Maryland. But, you are not alone. Good Luck

call bariatric surgeons in your area and ask what primary Dr's make
referrals to them. Thats how I did it. The Dr I picked that made referrals
to them was the worst Dr. I had ever went to. But as soon as I complained
about weigh related health issues, HE recommended WLS. The minute the
operation was over, I transferred to another PCP that someone in area
support group recommended. Remeber, you can usually change PCP's as often
as you want. Minimal trouble.

Try Dr. Michael Schwartz in GLen Burnie. He gave me the referral and is
quite excited for me! He said if there is anything he could do to help he
would!
