Question:
How much can excess skin weigh?
I've lost almost 200lbs, and wonder how much of what I have left is excess skin-not just being overweight? I had a panniculectomy this past Summer. I had 11lbs removed. I still have a lot of excess skin on my thighs, breasts, arms, well everywhere else. How much did your excess skin weigh after a massive weight loss? — Allison M. (posted on May 28, 2005)

Hi. Most patients who have lost around 100lbs have 8-15lbs of excess skin.
The higher weight losses really can vary. I try and NOT focus on weight
of the skin, but on the SHAPE the person will have after surgery.

I lost about 125 pounds and had 5 pounds of skin removed from my stomach.
I had excess skin removed from my upper arms, inner thighs and breasts and
I honestly didn't notice any kind of weight loss from that. But all of
those body parts now look MUCH better!!

I have lost 154 pounds and had my tummy done. They took off 16 pounds of
skin and I had a breast reduction done and that was another 4 1/2 pounds
