Question:
Has anyone used a liquid protein diet to lose weight?

I am a little over three yers post-op, and I need to lose 50lbs before my next excess skin removal. Has anyone used a liquid protein diet to lose weight? I exercise six days a week already. Has going back to liquids helped anyone else to lose the rest of the weight?    — Allison M. (posted on May 27, 2005)

I can send you a little plan that might help you kick off a wt loss. I wouldn't suggest more than 3 days on just protein, vitamins and water, personally. But gradually adding back in salad, veggies, whole grains, protein foods. The protein alone is not enough, even with vitamins. You need the fiber and other things real food provides, but you can certainly leave out white carbs and sugars, completely. Just keep your nuts, grains & seeds.

I'm looking to do this too - back to shakes and vitamins. If we add liquifiber or something similar along with water, shakes, and vitamins, would that be okay for at least a few months? I was on a doctor-supervised liquid fast prior to surgery and did lose 35 lbs. in a month then. I know that's not the same as our protein shakes, but still... Just wondering honestly how much was need or get from food. I was thinking that as long as we took a fiber supplement, we could pretty much live off of shakes and vitamins, but Michelle should know!! :)

Iwould like to know if doing just protein is possible. Michelle please let me know what plan you are speaking of to help jump start weight loss I have been on the same plateau forever and my protein is the pits even with supplements. My nails have horizontal and vertical splits so I need to do something.
