Question:
I am short of a couple of days of 18 weeks post-op and have lost
a total of 76 Lbs. 10 Lbs shy of my 100 mark. Yippee. But what my concern is. Am I losing it to quickly or am I on track. I take my vitamins daily and get a vitamin -B12 shot monthly and My water intake is not all that good. My body cant seem to catch up. My Bones hurt. Ive had plateaus and broke out of them. Am I doing something wrong! — nomor4me_ty (posted on May 25, 2005)

It sounds like to me that you are looking for a pat on the back so I am
going to give you one. How great is your weight loss. I am three years
post op and I only lost 70ish pounds maybe I should ask you am I doing
anything wrong?

I know exactly what you mean. I am 6 months post-op and have lost 116 lbs.
Plus I was wondering the same things, am I losing too quickly, why do my
bones hurt, why am I hitting plateau's? I turned to several people in my
local support group who were further out then myself and come to discover
these things are not unusal. The loss is based on how much you have to
lose to begin with and it's individual depending on other factors like
water weight. The bones hurting.... everyone I have talked to says that
it's the weight shifting off the frame at such a rapid pace that the body
is having a hard time keeping up. Seems like you are doing everything
right to me. Keep up the good work and try to keep up with the water ---
that is key!

Hello I am also about 18 weeks post opp (Jan 4) I have lost 74 lbs. and hit
one platue for 3 weeks but broke that. I guess if you are doing something
wrong I am too so lets just assume we are doing good. I dont have hurting
bones though but hear alot of other people comment on that maybe it just
hasnt started yet. Anyway good luck!!

Shhhhhhh!!! WLS is just like your car. If your car knows you have money
it will break! If WLS knows you feel you are losing too fast, it will
stop! LOL, well ok really.... Your first 4-6 months you lose like crazy
and then it slows down real fast. I think you have done great and have
nothing to worry about. The losing will slow way down in the next month or
two and you will lose at a slower more steady rate. Enjoy it.
