Question:
Irregular Periods: Can I Still Get Pregnant?

I am 20 months post-op. I am 27 years old, and never had any issues before becoming pregnant. Now, post-op, I have my cycle usually twice a month (one is usually lighter and shorter than the other), sometimes two weeks apart. Well, my husband and I are hoping to have a child one day, but it scares me because I'm not sure if these constant cycles are allowing my body even to ovulate. Did anyone have this issue, and was still able to get pregnant? Thanks, God bless.    — stork1 (posted on May 22, 2005)

Your best bet is to see your gyn, they can evaluate you and see where your hormone levels are. Your homones go thru a lot of turmoil during the rapid weight loss and I think they might level out after a while when you are stable especially since you are so young. See your doc and they can help you.

I am wondering if you are coming off the Depo-provera birth control shot. I quit mine a year ago and finally am getting my periods but exactly like you describe. I am assuming it has something to do with the Depo but am going to see my gyn soon anyway.

Thank you guys for the response. I am going to see my doctor soon. As far as the Depo shot...no, but I was taking birth control pills, and I stopped at one point. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Hi Kim I am 22 months post op and have been dealing with this same problem off and on since surgery. I saw my OB/GYN last summer, and hormones were fine. I am going to a new OB/GYN in 2 weeks, as my husband and I would also like to start trying for a baby. Will keep you informed. Good Luck!!
