I don't have BCBS of CA but I have BCBS if IL & have been trying to get approved sincel last March. Wonder if we are having the same problem. Email me at [email protected].

You should not have any issues as long as it is medically necessary. I was approved on bmi alone when I first looked into surgery. This link should be helpful. http://medpolicy.bluecrossca.com/policies/surgery/morbid_obesity.html
