Question:
I hope that Michelle Curan will read this. I need to know how far to space my meds.

I am almost 1 year post op. I have been dealing with anemia prior to surgery. My question is how do I space my medications and supplements. I will tell you what I take and I hope someone can tell me how long to wait before taking the next set of supplements. 100mcg. synthroid - I take these under my tongue mid morning I take my ICAR-C and my sublingual b12 and my multi vitamin - This one has me concerned because it has 180mg of calcuim ( is this interfering with my iron absorption) Mid day 2 Calcuim Citrate I usually forget to take 2 more calcium bed time 1 more iron/dr.s order as of yesterday mid day I take 2 Calcium Citrate    — D. Well, I was told that your body after having WLS can only absorb a certain amount of calcium at a time. I take calcium citrate, but I take it three times a day about four hours apart and also my irion supplement (but only after four hours after taking one of my calcium tablets and never at the same time). I also take a multi-vitamin first thing in the mornig with my B-12 sublingual tablet. These are my doctors requirements and everyone is given different directions on what they are allowed. I would follow my doctors instructions and you should be fine.

And I did answer her privately. What I will say here is that altho I am not a pharmacist, I know synthroid is not freindly or cooperative with most anyone, supplement or food. It has special issues with iron & calcium who also have issues with each other. Like we need THAT. Still, my usual suggestion for synthroid is to take it in the middle of the night when one gets up to go to the bathroom, or when one's cats play tag on one's bottom, whichever happens in your household. Then it is automcatically separated from everything else. You can verify this with the pharmacist, but that is my understanding.

Michelle, you are so funny-but right. I take my Levoxyl between 0200-0300 when I get up to the bathroom. That way my calcium, iron and soy products are far removed from it!
