Hi Karen. First of all, you wouldn't be human if you weren't nervous for
your upcoming surgery. As much research as I did and as prepared as I was,
when it came time for me to go into pre-op, I was so scared I had second
thoughts. Please realize that this is normal. This is a life altering
surgery but you will be so happy you chose this once you start losing and
see the benefits that this surgery gives us. Please feel free to email me
if you need anything. I wish for you a safe, uneventful and speedy
recovery.

I did not have surgery with Dr R, but I do know many, many who have. HE is
a very nice guy and I was just speaking to him a week ago when he was here
to visit my doc and some of his pts. He is very concerned about your level
of comfort (body & mind) while you are there AND ever after. He asked
after several people he did years ago and made notes to himself to call
them and check on them while he is here. There is no money in that, you
know? Only heart. The surgical skills are there, of course! If you email
me pvtly, I can send you a pic of him from a week ago.

Of course being nervous is totally normal but when I think back to how I
drove myself nuts I laugh at myself and can't imagine why I was so
frightened. I thought I was ready, too, and I was so scared I was
preparing to jump off the guerney parked right outside the surgical suite -
really seriously going to do it - I was just figuring out how to get up
without ripping my IV out. Just then my surgeon came up and said "Are
you ready for the most exciting day of your life?" and the pre-op
kicked in.
Off I went - and I am so, so glad I did. My life is immeasurably better
and I am so greatful for the opportunity to have had this surgery. Be
well, be brave, be confident!! Best of everything to you - Bette

HELLO KAREN. I HAVE MY SURGERY FOR 1/19/05 WITH DR.MUTHUSAMY AND YES I'M SO
NERVOUS AND EXCITED BECAUSE I CAN FINALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT SAVING MY LIFE
AND MAKING LIFE BETTER FOR THOSE I LOVE. IT'S NOT EASY BUT JUST TRY TO
REMEMBER THE REASON YOU'RE DOING IT AND IF YOU HAVE SPIRITUAL LOVE BELIEVE
THE CREATOR IS WITH YOU WHEN TRYING HARD TO DO THE RIGHT THING. CHINS UP
AND GO FOR IT!!!

Nervous is normal. Everyone handles it differently. You are having a life
changing experience. I would do it again tomorrow and I had
complications..big ones. But I have a LIFE again. I would be more than
willing to be your angel. Email me privately. [email protected]

It's very human to be nervous, I just had my surgery on 12/17 and I'm doing
well. Everyday I can feel a little better. It is the right thing to do
for me and if you have this decision you know it is for you also. I will
pray for you and if you need to chat with me please email me. Good luck
