Question:
I had surgery 4 days ago, what does black and green diarhea mean?

I had the same problem. It is just the after affects of the "cleaning
out" meds you took before surgery. Unless, it persists for a long
time, there is no need to worry. Good luck...judy

I am going to guess that you had RNY because your profile does not give me
any information. The black stools mean simply that you are probably passing
dried blood from when the doctor reattached your intestinal track. It is
normal most everyone passes a little bit of what you are. The green could
be when you did your leak test, they usually use a liquid that they can see
on the xray and I believe that it is usually a blue or green color. You can
call your doctor if you are really worried over this. You will however have
runny stools if you are on a liquid diet still. They will firm up when you
go to more solid foods.
