Question:
What is this tingling and almost numb feeling I'm getting in my lips and left hand?
OK, I've been having these weird feelings lately and....well......has anyone ever had an experience like this when you were (or for pre-ops like me....are) heavy? For the past three days, I've been getting these weird feelings like when I stand up I get real dizzy like everything is moving like a motion picture. I start to walk and my lips start to tingle like they are about to go numb and then my left hand gets really tingly too and then goes away. And then while I'm still standing I still feel kinda dizzy-dazey like? And it does this about every single time I get up. It's driving me up the wall and it's like really freaking me out.......anyone have any ideas what this could be?? I'm suppose to go to my PCP on Thursday to talk about the WLS but I'm wondering if I should go sooner (even though I have the 1st available appt....go figure!!) (anyone a nurse out there....... ) Any advice.....please? — Allie (posted on November 9, 2004)

Allison -- call your PCP's office now. It could be a number of different
things, but considering this is something new for you and it's not going
away, I'd want to rule out anything going on with my heart. You don't have
to have the classic crushing chest pain to be having heart problems. Please
call them, tell them what you've told us, and let them decide. If they
determine that it's urgent, they will make arrangements for you to be
evaluated. BUT YOU NEED TO CALL THEM NOW.

Sounds like low potassium. GET TO AN ER IMMEDIATLY. If it low potassium you
"could have an heart attack". Don't wait.
Read my profile for July 2001. Your symptons sound like mine. This is NOT
to be fooled around with or to wait till another day to check out or wait
for our "opinions". Go now.
