Question:
What can I expect for my appt. with the psychiatrist? Will the insurace company pay?
I am going next week for my appt. I am just not sure what to expect. I know the man so I am happy about that. Will the insurance company pay for it?? Thanks!!! — P B. (posted on November 4, 2004)

My physc. evaulation partly was covered by my insurance company and I had
an additional fee for the service.... It was quite easy....had to answer
true/false questions and then the same questions were asked different
ways....for example..one question asked this way....I believe in a higher
power.... Then they asked your faith helps you get through things...not
exact words but close to that....Just be honest and you will not have any
problems passing!

If it is your insurance requiring the psych eval before they will review
your case then they HAVE to pay for it. Many times people just assume that
because it's the surgeon requiring it that it will not be covered. When I
was trying for approval for my LBL my insurance insisted on an orthopedic
evaluation and recommendation. Even if I did not end up getting approved
they were responsible for the consult cost because they were requiring it.
So double check with your insurance to find out what things they require to
review you case. If they require the psych eval then have it billed
directly to them and go from there.
