Question:
What if you have a January date and Insurance cancels WLS in 2005
I have a January surgery date but my insurance will no longer carry WLS in 2005. Will I still get my surgery?? — Special K (posted on October 22, 2004)

Hi,,,Did you consider asking if your surgery could be moved to a closer
day? Explain to them your situation.

I don't think so. You need to discuss this with the surgeon's office and
see if they can move you into 2004 OR find a surgeon who can.

I know that we have two different insurance policies. I have BCBS of Al and
in my approval letter there was a disclosure stating " Benefits of
covered services will be provided according to the patient's eligibility,
terms and conditions of the contract in effect at the time the service is
rendered." I know the reason they put that in there is because at the
beginning of the year my husband policy will change and it will ne BCBS,
blue option. From what I hear the policy doesn't cover as much. You may
want to just ask your insurance company. Good Luck!!!!!

I ran into the same thing this past January when my insurance stopped
covering wls. Since I was approved prior to January of 04 my surgeons
office got an extension. I had surgery in April. Good Luck!!
