Question:
How long to get test results
Hi! I had an Upper GI series plus complete small bowel on Friday for a possible staple line disruption. I have not heard from my surgeon yet. How long does it usually take to get the results? I have gained around 50 lbs since surgery and I am really worried that they will say that I have nothing wrong with me. I have been having sharp pain almost daily around my incision site. I am 2 1/2 years post op. Thanks - Tracy — tracyr (posted on October 20, 2004)

Usually, the techs that do the tests will tell you then when the results
will be available and when to call your doctor. Sometimes you have to call
the doctor's office to get the results. I would call them in the morning.

Call the doctor's office that ordered the test and ask. If they do not have
the results they should get them. The radiologist generally reads the test
the same day it is done, dictates his report and it may take several days
to be typed and sent to your Doc. However, the squeaky wheel gets the
grease, If the doc knows you are calling, he may call the facility where
the test was performed and get the results off of the dictation line.
