Question:
Anyone have Panni/Hernia repair even though you haven't lost all weight?
I am scheduled to have a hernia repair/pannilectumy by my surgeon and PS. To date I have not lost all of my desired weight since 2002 and ideally have 70 lbs more to go (although 50 would be good too). I'm curious if anyone here had the panni while still heavier (e.g. 240lbs) and what your experience has been. My PS said I should expect to lose about 15 lbs from the panni, and this could help jumpstart additional weight loss. Thanks for any advice. — Kathleen T. (posted on October 12, 2004)

I am almost two years post RNY, and had my abdominoplasty done at the
beginning of August. I am still about 40 lbs from my goal, but my weight
has been stable for about a year, so I was good to go. I only had about 5-6
lbs removed, but man, what a difference! I think some of us just are not
meant to be a size 2. I'm happy to be in a 10 to a 14 (depending on
manufacturer.)

I think you will be happy to get the panni off you will be able to walk and
exerecise better and more. I think this will help jumpstart your
weightloss too. I am 18 mo pos op wls and 1 month post op tt/with muscle
tightening, and 3 hernia repair, and 1 week post op breast reduction. I
feel great and now I am 9# to goal. Good luck and feel free to write if
you have any questions or concerns.

I am about 40 pounds from my ideal weight loss also. I have been stable at
my current weight for about 6 months. I just had a breast reduction on the
11th of October and I am going to have a hernia repair with a paneculectomy
on the 25th of this month. The breast reduction has little pain compared to
my open bypass. I look forward to getting rid of my flap, I am sure it will
help with my lower back pain. Good Luck.........Lisa
