Question:
My lips are chronically sore/sensitive
My lips are chronically sore and sensitive to the touch. Sometimes blisters break out on my upper lips, sometimes the corners crack and get sore. I originally went to my PCP about this, and he thought it could be related to a yeast infection, but I have no signs of this inside my mouth or throat. So I'm taking my second 14-day course of Diflucan, but I just feel this isn't the answer. I did a little internet research, and one of the sites I came upon suggested that it could be a B-vitamin deficiency. Has anyone else experienced this, and did taking a B-complex help it? That is what I'm considering. I don't take extra B vitamins, other than my daily B-12 (500 mcg), along with a daily multi, 1000 mg calcium citrate, and 500 mg Vit C. Thanks for any input you may have. — Carlita (posted on October 7, 2004)

I've heard that sometimes when you get mouth sores, it's lysine that will
help that problem? Never had the problem, so I've never tried it. Anybody
comment on this?

I had that problem with cracking on the sides. I went to a dental appt.
(they didn't know I had wls) I was told it was due to a B complex
deficiency. I now take B complex in add'n to my other vits. It helps 100% I
once ran out of the B complex and the condition came back. I take it orally
and it has been just fine. Best of luck

Thanks, ZZ S, and Cathy. I got some B-complex yesterday and started them.
I hope this will help. I appreciate you taking the time to answer.

Try B-50 complex in ADDITION to the B-12. The nutritionist at the clinic I
go to has recently started recommending both.

L-Lysine is good for fever blisters. I have them periodically. B complex is
good. But I didn't see that you were taking Vit. D with the calcium. You
are, aren't you? Won't absorb the calcium witout it. I just found that out
after 5 months of wasting the calcium. And not getting the benefits.
