Question:
Anyone have iron infusions?
I would like to know why..ie: low ferritin or hemoglobin? How many did you need? Did it help? How long did it take for the labs to come up? How often did/do you have to have the infusions after that? Could you feel a difference, if so how long after? THANKS! — ZZ S. (posted on August 30, 2004)

ZZ, please join the Grad list. It's for those at least 1 year out from
WLS, but all are welcome to lurk and learn. You'll see that low iron seems
to be a common denominator among bypassers, many have had to have
infusions, and you'll have all your questions answered.

I had to go through iron infusions before I was able to have the surgery.
My hemoglobin has ranged from a 5 to 7 for 20 of my 33 years. I had 4
infusions 2 weeks apart each lasted 8 hours. I was on vacation so I was not
happy. It worked I am 8 months out from my last treatment and my hemoglobin
is a 12.8. I felt the difference after the first two weeks.
I would suggest that if you need it then have it. It has saved my life. I
am not as tired and cold aas I have been for years. As well, I am not a ice
eater LOL
