Question:
anyone with BC/BS and United Health Care insurance

Does anyone know if the clinic faxes my pre-determination letter from the Doctor into the insurance if this will get me a faster response from the insurance? How long does Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and United Health Care usually take to respond?    — imgabbie (posted on June 20, 2004)

Some clinics fax and some mail, that is a question for them. I can not answer regarding BX, but UHC's policy is for 90% to be completed within 30 days. In reality though, most are completed in less than 10 days. With mine it was like a week from the time the doc faxed it off to the doc calling me with an answer.

I have UHC and once all my info was faxed to them from my surgeon it took less than 24hrs, they called and told me I was approved. Hope that helps:)

UHC took FOREVER for me. In fact, my surgery was postponed due to their non-response. After I threw a hissy fit to 2 of their supervisors it was approved 2 days later. What are the odds of that? Good luck!! Jodie
