Question:
Has anyone changed insurance companies after RNY and had TT approved?
When I had my RNY I had AETNA insurance. Since I have changed jobs and have BCBS Basic through the postal service.I'm wondering if anyone has had TT approved through them after having different insurance for actual surgery? I want a TT in the worst way with maybe some liposuction along with it. I've lost 100 lbs which is what they said I should lose, but still carry too much in my stomach area. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks to all! — Sharon B. (posted on June 17, 2004)

I changed from Kaiser to NCPPO because I knew Kaiser would not cover it.
Although BCBS did not cover the RNY they still have to cover the
reconstructive surgery as long as you can proved it's needed.

Sharon
I had Cigna PPO for my wls and Definity health for my plastics. I had my TT
at 10 months due to the weight onf the panni. I too had lost the weight I
set out to lose but was still big in the belly. I sent pics and a letter
from my pcp and plastic surgeon and they approved it no questions asked.
Good luck, Lesley

My RNY was covered by BCBS and my TT by Aetna.

I had Medica for the RNY and Cigna for TT and breast lift.
They still have to review it for medical necessity no matter what the
situation. Good Luck!
