Question:
My stomach muscles are
and therefore, according to my doctor, I cannot firm this area up without sugerically having this issue fixed. Is this true? I plan on having a tummy tuck AFTER I'm done having children (plan on having 3 more)...so probably like 10 years from now. — Renee B. (posted on June 15, 2004)

Sorry. THE MUSCLES ARE SEPERATED.

It's called diastasis recti. And it does require surgical correction (as
part of an abdominoplasty) to have the muscles sewn back together. It would
probably be best to wait until you are done having kids to have this
repaired, although you will probably get answers from women who have gone
on to have more kids after having an abdominoplasty, i don't believe it is
recommended.

My concern would be how three more pregnancies will affect the situation as
it is now. I would imagine that having the TT to correct the issue now
would be destroyed after one pregnancy, let alone three. But how much
would the huge amount of abdominal swelling from pregnancy adversly affect
the muscle separation without correction?

If it were me,
I would wait. But that's because I'm a chicken with pain. Who would want
to have TWO tummy tucks!!! See what your doctor has to say.

I plan to wait until I'm done having kids! I figure in 10 years I'll be
sure I'm done, then can get this issue fixed. Thanks!
