Question:
Is this a vitamin/mineral deficiency??
I am 2+ years post-op. Lately I have been having the strangest sensation in my legs...mainly my left one. It's hard to describe other than a "jumpiness" or a tickling, crawling, restless-type involuntary internal movements. It seems to be mainly in my thigh area. It's especially bad when I lay down at night. It's a very odd feeling. I am prone to expect it to be some sort of vitamin deficiency. Can anyone tell me what this may be, or if you've experienced it as well? Thanks a bunch! — Mary W. (posted on June 10, 2004)

This sounds like restless-leg syndrome. My husband takes prescription meds
for it. I noticed that lately I have the same problem you described. I take
one of his pills and then it's fine. I don't think it has to do with diet.

I am 16 months post-op and a couple of months ago started having the same
problem in addition to a few others. The first thing my doctor did was run
blood work, and sure enough, my B12 level was 150 (850 below optimal). When
was the last time you had your blood work?

I agree that this sounds like restless leg syndrome. I had it when I
weighted 252 and still have it at 117. I had hoped that it would go away
with weight loss, but unfortunately not. I suppose you should get it
checked out anyway, but sure sounds like what I have experienced for years.
Good luck!

Also, check your magnesium RBC levels. Many things can be tied to a
magnesium deficiency. Try googling it to see if you recognize yourself in
some of the symptoms reported. Also, check out my webpage. Link is in my
profile and my magnesium deficiency page link is at the bottom of the first
page that comes up from the profile link. Sandra
