Question:
Does anyone have a list of potassium rich foods?
Hi, I'm 15 months post op rny, at goal and was doing fine until about a month and a half ago. I got sick and couldn't eat much for a couple of weeks. As a result, my potassium got out of whack and I ended up in the hospital for 5 days. Since then, I've experienced a lot of nausea which has caused my nutrition to not be the best and as a result, the potassium continues to be a problem. Doctor put me on a potassium supplement which irritated my ulcer prone stomach and I now have am having terrible problems with my ulcer. I need to get off the potassium supplement. In order to do that, I really need to be able to eat plenty of potassium rich foods. Problem is, besides bananas, I don't know what foods are high in potassium and orange juice (which I can't drink now due to ulcer). Anyone have a list or any knowledge to share? Kathy...the USDA has a web site where you can list what nutrient you are
interested in and it will list from foods with the most to least...I don't
remember the exact website but I typed in something like USDA and
nutrients....then click on the link for content...I believe it was....

I needed this info too so I went to Google and did a search on
"potassium rich foods" and got back several web sites that had
the info. I was surprised that bananas are way down the list.
