Question:
anyone in ROCHESTER, NY happy with their PCP?
I'm looking for a PCP in my area that understands WLS. MINE doesnt have a clue and Im tired of watching my levels drop with out having my PCP help me. MY B12 is almost below 200 and he still will not give the shots. Im looking for a DR who understands what we have been through. I am almost 19 months out and I already called my surgeons office and was told they can't reccomend one. — nicole79 (posted on April 18, 2004)

I am from Rochester, and Dr O'Malley also did my surgery. My PCP is Dr Gary
Glazier, he belongs to Alexander Medical Group. I do not know if he is
taking new patients but he is the best. He has been by me through all my
weight loss issues. If you do get in or choose him tell him I sent you.
Good luck.

Hi...I'm not sure if this will help you or not, but I thought I'd send you
what I am doing for B12. I am 15 weeks post op right now and my surgeon
has me on "sublingual" (under the tongue) B12. The only way B12
can be absorbed into your body when you're eating is to be absorbed in the
small bowel. Unfortunately for us, it's absorbed only in the portion of
the small bowel that is bypassed during our surgery. The sublingual B12 is
placed under your tongue and you let it dissolve completely. Do not chew
or swallow the pill...it must be dissolved under the tongue. It works the
same way as nitroglycerin works in heart patients. When they have chest
pain, they put the nitro under their tongue to alleviate the pain. The
medicine gets directly into your blood stream from under the tongue. I
found my sublingual B12 at GNC but you can probably find it at any health
food or nutrition store. The name is called "B-12 1000 mcg sublingual
tablets". I have to put it under my tongue once each week. There are
30 tablets in the packet and it costs $6.95. Just be sure when you're
looking for it, ask for "SUBLINGUAL". Hope this helps.
