what are the best protein drinks?

What are the best tasting ones??? That's really a matter of individual taste (no pun intended). I swear by the Nectar Caribbean Cooler and Roadside Lemonade, but there are others who don't care for either. I really wouldn't rely on what others say about the taste of a particular drink - buy some samples and try them yourself. <p> Or are you looking for the ones with the best nutritional value? In that case, I'd look for ones with decent amounts of protein per serving, minimal to no carbs and ditto for fats. If you like the Nectar brand, all of those are 100% protein - no carbs, no fats - and 23g per scoop...JR

Everyone will have a different opinion on this one. I love the Nectar proteins. I also use Designer Whey unflavored, and mix it with sugar free Kool-aid. I go through phases with what I like and what I can tolerate, but keep going back to these.

I have just recently been going thru samples from vitalady. I really like the Science Fit Plain (from Gnc 32 serv. $33.00) and UNjury from unjury.com. Both have no flavor and can be mixed easily with juice or anything without changing the texture much. I usually mix it in Crystal light. Its 20 grams per scoop. Just try some to figure out what you like. Good luck and god bless.

My personal favorite is the Champion Nutrition Pure Whey Protein Stack in the chocolate. I mix it in a shaker cup with just a few ounces of water. It's not real thick like some others I've tried and mixes up well with no clumps. I also bought samples from vitalady, but also found this at dpsnutrition. I buy a big 5 lb. container for only about 23.95.

Ann everyone has their own favorite drink, but I suggest you go to the gym that has a heath bar and try them before you make a large purchase. I spent a lot of money trying other peoples favorite protein drink until I found my favorite one.

My fav is Isopure Zero Carb. 20oz bottle has 40 grms of protein. I drink half in the morning and half at night. Just remember everyones tastes are different. And your tastes buds may change after surgery. Mine did. After surgery I couldn't even stand the smell of the Adkins shakes, or any of the "milky" kind of protein drinks. So don't go spending a lot of money on a lot of things until you are sure you like them. Good luck to you. :-)

Hello, I like the PRO SCORE 100 Chocolate and vanilla and I like the PRO BLEND 55 Chocolate and vanilla. Actually I LOVE them, I look forward to having my shakes every day. This is how I make them: 1/2 cup of water, protein powder, quite a few packs of splenda to sweeten (I like them real sweet), and the real kicker is a big heaping spoon of instant decaf coffee, I mix that and then add a big heaping cup of ice. I mix this up real good in a blender and the pro score gets real thick like eating ice cream. But try the coffee in any brand you decide on, it really tastes awesome. Kelly*

very individualized answer. I could not (and at 15 months out STILL cannot) tolerate chocolate and/or vanilla or thick shakes post surgery (I loved them presurgery). I went for months struggling with my protein intake. Nectar Proteins, specifically Strawberry Kiwi, saved me. I usually have one midmorning and try to get the rest of my protein in with food. Early on I did the Detour bars and liked them a lot but now I don't eat them anymore (not sure why).

I used to be very fond of the Isopure chocolate. For the first year I made my shakes with about a half cup of skim milk, 1 scoop of Isopure, and bit of crushed ice. Now that I am almost 2 years post-op, I add a half bannana to that for a meal replacement sometimes. Very yummy, but not too thick. If you don't like the ultra thick shakes, give Isopurea whirl. It is kinda like chocolate milk.
