Question:
Is eating 1/2 a 6 inch subway?
I am 2 yrs postop and for lunch today I was able to eat 1/2 a 6 in. turkey & Ham sandwich. Is this to much ?? I plan on eating the other half before I go in to work tonight. Just curious?? — charanewme (posted on March 19, 2004)

Doesn't sound like too much to me. Judging from what I've read on this
site, most people can eat that much even sooner than 2 years. I'm 1 year
out tomorrow and think I can eat that much sometimes. I wouldn't make that
particular choice very often, but I wouldn't worry about it.

Once or twice, I have eaten half of six inch cold cut sub. Most of the
time, i can only eat about 1/4th tho. I don't know what makes the
difference. I am 14 months out. I had a sub today and was only able to
eat about one fourth.

I can eat most of one...probably could get the whole 6 inches down, but I
remove about 1/2 the bread just cause I don't want to eat that many carbs.
Personal preference. But no, I don't think it's too much food by quantity.
19 months postop.

I can eat most, if not all, of a 6-inch sub. I am 19 months post-RNY, and
have lost 175 pounds. I wear a 8-10. I don't think a turkey sub is evil.

Charlene, YES!! That is TOTALLY fine. I have been able to eat that much
since I was 6 months post-op, I can even even the bag of chips with it too.
I am 17 mos out! Open RNY 8-15-02 305/183/175

I know some people who could eat that at 3 mos post op. I wouldn't worry
unless you are counting carbs.

I am 2 years out and still cant. I think its due to the bread so I eat the
meat without bread. Or I will get home or to work and put the meat on low
carb bread. I can eat a whole wrap though. It depends on what I have eaten
and how long in between. Good Luck. Watch the bad carb demons.

I'm 15 months out and can eat almost a whole quarter pounder for one meal.
It might take me about 20-30 minutes though. Other days I can only eat
about half. It kind of depends on how I've been eating in the days prior
to a bigger meal. If I've been skipping meals in the last few days, I
can't eat a normal sandwich, but if I've been eating well then I eat more.
This is simular to how real life works. Before WLS I remember starving
myself in the days before Thanksgiving and then when Thankgiving Day
arrived and I wanted to eat everything, I couldn't because my stomach had
shrunk down. Eat 'til you're comfortable.
