Question:
I had a breast reduction before I had the bypass......

I was brought done to a cup size C. I had the gastric bypass surgery almost a year ago, and am now an A. I was wondering if anyone who had had a reduction wound up getting implants and how successful that was?    — Amanda B. (posted on March 12, 2004)

I had breast reduction years prior to WLS. I lost alot in the breast. When I went to see the doctor about a TT and arm shaping, he asked if I wanted impants. I asked him what he could do for me. He explained it all to me, and didn't seem to feel there would be any problems with implants. My personel decision is that I don't want them, I am happy just the way I am.

this is not an answer, but more of a question for you Amanda......is Tricare going to pay for ANY of your plastic surgery? I am pre op WLS still, but I have been curious about what tricare would and would not pay for in terms of plastic surgery good luck on your endevours. I say go ahead and get the implants if my opinion matters to you :)

I had the same thing happen to me that happened to Barbara. My PS mentioned she could fix the prior lift when I was shortly post op from a TT. I said I'd be more interested in getting my arms and legs fix before I worried about my breasts being so small. But it all depends on what bothers each person the most. I'm too small for my size now post RNY with having the reduction/lift done first, but I can live with that easier than the other stuff. If I won the lottery I might have everything done, but who knows. I'm kind of used to being small chested now. Good luck with whatever you decide. I'm sure implants would be no problem if you wanted them.

Hello, I had a breast reduction done in 1994 and had WLS in Feb 2003. Since loosing almost 130lbs from WLS, my boobs shrunk up to nothing but skin. I decided to get implants to fill up the skin, rather than go for a breast lift that would have made them even smaller. It seems odd to have implants after having a reduction, but my reduction was done 11 years ago because I was so huge at that time. I am well proportioned now after having WLS, TT, thigh lift and implants. I still can't believe its me when I look in the mirror!!

I am so glad you asked this question because I have the same delima. I was a DD before my breast reduction and was brought down to a c cup. Now after my RNY and 130 lb weight loss I am barely an A cup and wearing inserts in my wonder bra. I feel really stupid having a reduction and now wanting some put back I thought I was the only one. I have an appt wed with the PS we'll see what he has to say.
