Question:
What type of exercises are you doing to get your tummy to trim down?
I had surgery in Sept on the 24th. I have lost 101 lbs to date. Well that part I am happy with. I exercise mainly walking and occasionally do crunches/situps. Tho my stomach has trimmed down on the sides it still sits there like a little round basketball since I primarily lost on my thighs and hips. What type of exercises are you all doing at "home" that has help to trim that abdominal area down? — TerryS (posted on February 4, 2004)

I had my surgery on March 24,2003 and swam everyday for the 1st 6 months or
until the weather got to cold to swim and i have gone from a size 26 to a
size 10 .But if you can I would definetly swim.My Doctor told me that
something to do with swimming will help firm up the skin faster than
anything else. Good luck and great job.

I was using a Stability Ball, which I LOVE! I just had an abdominoplasty 2
weeks ago since I had so much excess skin which simply refused to go away
though... and once I am healed I will go back to the ball and keep doing
the exercises to lose the remaining fat. <br>
The exercisez you can do on it are very cool - lots of fun when you don't
have a ton of muscle yet. You can buy one in a kit with a DVD or video from
a company called Gaiam... Target and some Barnes and Nobles carries the
kits. Good Luck!

Thanks for the info I have yet to start any water aerobics..waiting for the
weather to ease up, since we have been getting pounded here. The stability
ball my daughter mentioned a week ago. She said something about using it
against the wall and lowering yourself down in squatting positions...will
try that. I have purchased some equipment mainly use the treadmill.

I walked 5 days a week for 8 months and when I had my abdominoplasty, my
stomach was still big but it was nothing but skin. When the doctor did the
surgery, he said it was ALL skin - no fat - so he ended up removing 5
pounds of it. I guess what I'm saying is, if it is nothing but excess skin
at this point, only surgery is going to correct it. Exercising might make
it look a little better but you'll still have the excess skin.

Another vote for the stability ball. I had my surgery on August 26th and
so far have lost 112lbs. I still have a bit of a gut, but I do crunches
and twists on the stability ball and my stomach has slimmed down quite a
bit. Also leg raises will help target that lower part of your abs. I do
them with the ball between my legs so not only do I work my abs but my
inner and outer thighs as well. Hope this helps.

Thanks I am getting some good advice here. I am just 4 months out so a TT
is not in the makings. Never thought of placing something between my thighs
to help tone the inner thigh. I do alot of leg lifts and it seems I keep
losing from my hips and thighs mainly. Plan to try some of the things you
all mentioned :-)
