Question:
Has anyone had a Dr who is on the list of providers, but a hospital that is not?
Good Afternoon Everyone! I found out today that UC Medical Center isn't on Anthem's list of providers even though Dr Gersin (of UC Surgeons) is. I'm very frustrated right now! I couldn't find anything dealing with this specifically in the archives and my customer service rep at Anthem was less than helpful. It seems silly that they will cover the Doctor, but not the hospital. I did e-mail the bariatric coordinator at UC, but I'm interested to hear what you have to say. Has anyone dealt with this? Any suggestions? Thanks for the Help! :) Dawn — Dawn W. (posted on January 8, 2004)

Hi Dawn,
My doctor was a preferred doctor but the hospital he worked at wasnt. It
didn't make any difference. They still paid the bill. The UC medical
centers are generally highly preferred anyway. I wouldn't worry about it.
If they approved you, then the hospital shouldn't be a problem. More than
likely they have already indicated where the procedure is going to be
preformed in the paperwork.

Hi Dawn,
I have Anthem Blue and they suck big time... I am still fighting them and
you have four approval processes to go thru. Can you tell me if you have
been approved yet? I know they will pay the bill for the hospital. But
don't expect Anthem to help you. Go to your insurance agent and make the
president of the company help you. That is what I am doing now to make
sure all it paid for. Right now I will be meeting with a board with Athem
to push my appeal thru. It is a tough road pycologically. If they do not
approve me I am taking Senate Bill 41 that talks about Baratric Surgery and
I am going to sue them. There is a letter with this bill to president Bush
making them push this bill thru for us to all insurance companies. stay in
touch let me know how you are doing and lets share info ok.. Tammy Dayton
